Twenty-three years ago, I moved to Los Angeles from New York with the proceeds from selling my apartment on Gramercy Park and the goal of buying my first home in California. While I had owned property before, Los Angeles was entirely new to me. I didn’t know the neighborhoods, didn’t understand the market, and wasn’t even sure exactly what I was looking for. A friend recommended Tregg Rustad, and I’m incredibly grateful they did. From the very beginning, Tregg did something that the very best real estate professionals do exceptionally well: he listened. As we toured properties throughout Los Angeles, I realized I wasn’t choosing with a checklist—I was choosing based on how a place made me feel. I jokingly referred to certain apartments as creating “Sad Corin”—spaces that felt dark, dated, or simply didn’t feel like home. Instead of trying to convince me to prioritize square footage or what looked like the better value, Tregg paid attention to what I kept responding to and suggested we stop chasing space and instead look at a sunny one-bedroom condo in Santa Monica. He was right. I walked in and immediately knew it was home. I thought I’d live there for four years. Instead, I stayed for twenty-three. Over those years, I eventually completed a down-to-the-studs renovation—not to increase resale value, but to create the home I imagined enjoying for many years to come. Every decision reflected quality, function, longevity, and the life I hoped to build there. Recently, I decided to move back to New York to be closer to my family. Although it meant saying goodbye to a home I truly loved, there was never any question who I would call to help me sell it. What impressed me most was that Tregg immediately understood the story the home was telling. He recognized that what would resonate with the right buyer wasn’t simply a list of upgrades—it was the thought and intention behind them. He translated that beautifully, highlighting the craftsmanship, functionality, and lifestyle the home offered without ever making the listing feel overly personal. Instead, he invited buyers to imagine it as their own. As someone who has spent my career producing television, I pay close attention to storytelling, photography, and presentation. I fully expected I’d have notes. I didn’t change a word. The photography was beautiful, natural, and authentic. The listing description struck exactly the right balance. Rather than simply cataloging upgrades, it communicated why those details mattered and how they would enhance someone’s daily life. It allowed prospective buyers to see not merely the home I had created, but the home they might create for themselves. Throughout both my purchase twenty-three years ago and my sale this year, Tregg and his team made every step feel approachable. They took the time to explain the process, answer every question, and make sure I felt informed and comfortable from beginning to end. Real estate is ultimately built on trust. Tregg listened carefully enough to understand what I was looking for before I could fully articulate it myself. Twenty-three years later, he understood just as clearly what would help someone else fall in love with that same home. If I ever find myself buying or selling a home in Southern California again, I know exactly who I’ll call: Tregg Rustad and the team at Maurice Rustad Realty.
Working with Tregg Rustad was truly a gift during one of the hardest seasons of my life. My late father had specifically asked that we work with Tregg to sell his condo, and now I completely understand why. From the very beginning, Tregg was compassionate, professional, and extremely knowledgeable. He took the time to explain everything clearly, managed the details seamlessly, and consistently went above and beyond to make the process easier on our family. I always felt like we were in steady, capable hands. On top of that, his expertise delivered real results: the condo sold quickly and for a price we were very happy with. If you’re looking for a broker who is not only knowledgeable and effective but also genuinely kind and trustworthy, I can’t recommend Tregg highly enough.
Peter and his entire team are great! They understand the market, know how to best present your house for sale, help with all of the sale details such as repairs and staging, and are great negotiators. We have bought and sold numerous houses, and Peter and his team are #1! Would HIGHLY recommend.
I sold my townhouse a little over a month ago and I just got handed the keys to my new condo today and Tregg Rustad handled both. A friend of mine recommended Tregg and because I trust her so much I called him. He was very professional, calm and easy to talk to. Tregg was not only calm, he was patient, he explained things so that I can understand sometimes two or three times, and never lost his cool. I never felt like he was just out to make a deal. I believe he genuinely wanted me to be happy with my purchase and where I was planning on living. And really he kind of made it fun. He’s a good guy. He loves what he does for a living. I’m so glad he was my broker.
We are really pleased with the job Peter Maurice and his team did for us while selling our home. Peter answered all of our questions and concerns and gave great advice about pricing and how to show off our home's potential. The whole team handled all of the details—signatures, documents, communication with the buyer's realtor, showings, photography, staging recommendations, etc. with a lot of attention to detail, but also with the confidence that comes from having done this successfully a zillion times. We were done quickly and without a hitch. Would definitely recommend.
Tregg helped us to both purchase our home and sell our previous home. Above and beyond is the best way I can describe his support. He was so patient with our process, always there for us and is an incredible negotiator. Most importantly to us was his ability to be kind, direct and compassionate. Our home buying journey took us a while. He was patient with our needs and process. The whole experience can be stressful and Tregg took as much of that stress away as humanly possible. It didn’t feel like he was doing a job but fulfilling a passion of helping people. I can tell he really loves what he does and that supporting others to have a great experience is his top priority. Thank you, Tregg.
Selling a property in today's market is challenging at best. Selling a property you have never lived in when you are over a thousand miles away is much much harder!! From the moment I met the Maurice & Rustad Team I knew I was in good hands. They work extremely well together in a seamless manner. This transaction was an Estate sale and had both financial as well as time constraints. Peter and Tregg helped me manage these constraints from afar. The property was on the market a minimum amount of time and we obtained a fair value slightly above listing. I could not be more pleased with the result given the circumstances and would strongly recommend this very experienced team to help you with your real estate needs.
Tregg Rustad is a great realtor. We live in another city and needed to sell a condo in Westwood—Tregg led the entire process in our absence. When we first contacted Tregg, our unit was in the final stages of reconstruction after a building-wide re-piping. Tregg oversaw the completion of our unit’s construction, arranged all staging, and coordinated with the building’s staff. Tregg and his team made it possible for us to successfully sell our unit remotely. Truly impressive. Tregg was firmly with us, on our side, every step of the way—and usually a step or two ahead. Because he was so personable and trustworthy (supported by his diplomatic honesty), every decision and transaction was easy to understand and resolve. He is savvy, respectful, and a brilliant negotiator. I cannot say enough about Tregg and his team.
Due to unexpected circumstances, my sister had to leave the house she loved and had lived in for over 25 years. A fall had left her physically unable to continue to manage her home, not to mention all the details of selling it, so I volunteered to help her. Our first step was to find an agent. On the recommendation of close friends we interviewed Tregg and Peter. On first meeting my sister and I were so impressed that we knew right away these were people we could work with. We weren’t wrong. From that initial interview to closing we felt totally taken care of. They helped us every step of the way to understand the selling process, kept us up on fluctuations in the market and advised us on the best time to list the house, as well as guiding us through prepping and staging the house for showing. The marketing pieces were top notch and consequently we had an excellent response when we listed. When we accepted a higher than expected bid, Tregg walked us through the inspections, contingencies, escrow, and closing with endless patience and handholding. We will always be grateful to Tregg, Peter and the team for all their professionalism and expertise, making a difficult transition run so smoothly.
Tregg Rustad is simply the best realtor anyone could ever ask for! He has an exceptional sense of the market especially as it’s been changing and fluctuating and gave us invaluable advice including how best to present our home to maximize its selling price. His patience, savvy, and calm demeanor made the entire process of selling our home feel manageable, even during the most stressful moments. We trusted him completely, and that trust was well-placed. The negotiations with our buyers were especially challenging , but he remained calm and cool-headed throughout, never losing focus. At the same time, he was firm and strategic, pushing back appropriately when needed. His steady presence made all the difference and gave us confidence every step of the way. He guided us through both buying our home 12 years ago and selling it recently, and in that time has become more than just our real estate agent—he’s become a friend. If you’re looking for an agent who truly knows the business, puts his clients first, and carries himself with integrity, you’ll be in excellent hands with Tregg.
I planned to sell my condo in Westwood, Los Angeles, CA. I had never sold a house before, so I met and interviewed 3 real estate agents/groups of agents who have experience selling in the Westwood area. Tregg Rustad and his group were the agents I selected after the interviews. This was because they were the most organized, got information to me early to review, had the best ideas for marketing my place, and also listened to my concerns about what I wanted done to show the place to the best advantage. While a lot of what real estate agents do is standard across the board, what stands out about this group is that they really tailor the process to best show your home. For example, they saw one of my pictures of a spectacular sunset from my roof deck, and not only used it along with their professional photographer’s photos but also mentioned it in the listing. This type of attention to detail really stood out for me. In addition, they were there every step of the process, responding to emails, calls, or texts quickly, and explaining each step of the process or how to deal with any issues that arose during offers and then during escrow. I received a much higher price for my unit than I expected, which was a welcome surprise. These things, along with the fact that Tregg managed to make what is a very stressful experience much easier throughout the entire process, and made this actually a fun and interesting experience.
It is a pleasure to report our complete satisfaction in our association with Tregg Rustad and Peter Maurice for the sale of our home. Their quiet professionalism and steady support through all stages of the process were deeply appreciated, as was the good work of their team. Almost as important, we have not only enjoyed working with them, we have liked knowing them. We were flattered by their response to our home on first viewing and were impressed by their tact and taste in suggesting ways its presentation might be improved for showing. Their suggestion for pricing was perfect and resulted in three substantial offers within the first week. Tregg’s attention to detail and personable style was put to the test with an outstanding permit on our 30-year old remodel. In order to close escrow, he helped us navigate the Santa Monica Building Department with a successful outcome. His guidance was vital. During this time, without being asked to do so, he remained in regular contact with our Realtor® in Northern CA., where we were in contract negotiations to purchase another home. We are grateful for having chosen this incredible team and Rodeo Realty.
Whatever the most stars are triple them and then multiply it times infinity and that will give you a sense of the awesomeness that is Tregg and the Rodeo Realty team. We were very fortunate to have the opportunity to buy our first home with Tregg and sell our first home with Tregg. He not only helped us negotiate a good deal, but he recommended a wonderful contractor to help us completely remodel our home. He has an infinite amount of patience and never makes you feel silly for asking outlandish questions. Before we even thought about selling our house, Tregg was there to take us through every scenario and opportunity. These are big life decisions and we are so grateful that Tregg and the Rodeo Realty team were there with us on our side the whole way. THANK YOU!
